Family and Comfort
By Liz Gilbert

So, I'm a big fan of pot roast. I love the smell that fills the house all afternoon as it cooks. I love how tender the meat is, how easy you can tear it apart with just a fork. And I love sitting down with my family on a Sunday evening to a real family dinner. It's true, that pot roast is one of the best comfort foods.

Usually about once a month, my family all tries to get together and eat a nice, Sunday supper. After church, I pull out our dutch oven, and start the meat. A few hours later, my sister and her family are over, and my husband has gone and picked up my parents. In the fall, a football game is usually on. If it's summer, we're all out in the backyard, watching the kids play in the pool. No matter what we're doing though, it's not hard to pry everyone away for dinner.

Pot roast brings me back to a more simple time, when I was growing up. I can still remember when my mother used to make it for us on special occasions. I feel blessed that my family and I have a chance to sit down as a real family and enjoy each other's company. We share stories, and I think it's so important for my kids to know where they came from.

I was recently searching around to find a new and different pot roast recipe, and I came across this fantastic website. www.best-pot-roast-recipes-ever.com

They had every combination of recipes you could think of. Italian and Greek, sweet and spicy, simple and extravagant.

I tried the Vegetables and Pot Roast recipe last month, and it went over great with my family. I think the sugar snap peas were the new key ingredient. This month, I've decided to try the Greek-Style Pot Roast recipe. Fettuccine and pot roast sounds so good.

Darn it, I've made myself hungry. I'll let you know how this dinner goes.
