Back Ever tried being a step father? by Adrian Soden Have you ever tried being a step father. Believe me, there's much more to it than meets the eye. When I met my now wife, Debbie, she had three children living with her following her divorce - aged 11, 8 and 6. Well the first thing to remember is that although these kids seem fairly cute at those ages, they soon grow up into stroppy teenagers. So here we are now, with them aged 17,14 and 12. My, how things have changed. The youngest (11 years old) is the same height as me already (5 10) and shows no sign of stopping. The biggest problem with teenagers of course is attitude, and none more so than with step children. First off all you get the 'I know it all syndrone', but most importantly when you're a step dad, you get the ' you can't do that, you're not my dad'. This of course is soon forgotten as soon as someone wants a lift to the cinema/friends. The rest of the time of course you are treated as a second rate citizen! Only spoken to when they want something. This of course becomes more pronounced in a step father scenario as opposed to father. And then of course there's dad. The one that occasionally pays some maintenance but feels that because you've got a decent job that he shouldn't have to pay any more! Wake up and take responsibility! The kids won't hear a word against him though and woe betide you if you say anything bad about him! Anyway, this will be the first in a series of articles I shall be writing about being a stepfather. I will be publishing them in my own directory website http://www.theoracle2006.com. We currently have over 27000 searchable articles for your use, come and have a look. www.theoracle2006.com Author's Biography: See me here at
