Okay, heres the thing. Its a gift. When you get a lousy one, just say thank you and get on with your life. Its still the thought that counts, remember. And anyway, when it comes to giving gifts, there shouldnt be any rules. No prescriptions. Yeah, yeah. Its the holidays, and trust that every corny figurine or kitchen towel gift delivered your way comes with the best of wishes.

Still, there are just some gifts that are best not sent, not because theyre lousy but because everyone else is giving it to their loved ones. For a change, deliver a gift thats unpredictable. Be creative and astounding. Surely, with our malls filled with every conceivable merchandise and gift ideas, you can do better than the following:

Photo album. Weve been getting photo albums since time immemorial. Yes, we love taking pictures and there seems to be not enough space to store them, and photo albums are sure useful. But hey, let them worry about it. Give a gift thats unique; not something that has sticky pages.

Suggestion: a sketch pad or a scrap book. Add some pencils, crayons, oil pastel too. This is sure to unleash the creative side in anyone.
