Finding a cheap flight can be either hard or easy to do depending on how you go about your search. There are a few different ways that you can do this. You can spend hours on the phone calling different airlines, book your flight through a travel agent, look up cheap flights online, or you can even ask people that you know if they know who has the best offer.
The first thing that you must do is figure out where you are going and where you are going to stay. The cost of any flight will always depend on your destination. The further from home you go, the more expensive it may be. If you have a credit card that offers a certain amount of miles for each dollar you spend, then that is great. The biggest problem with that is blackout dates. Blackout dates are dates like busy holidays where a lot of people are flying.
If you decide that you like talking on the phone and taking a lot of notes, then you can call around to each of the several airlines and ask them about the prices on their flights. This method takes a lot of time, patience and writing. You can then take all of your handwritten notes and compare the prices that way, if you can decipher your own handwriting. Just make sure that you write down all of the prices next to the right airline name so that you can call back the right airline with the cheapest price that you have in mind.
Another method that you can use to find a cheap flight is asking people that you know that have flown recently. This method also requires a lot of time, patience and note taking. This is another situation where you have to decipher your own handwriting because how many people do you know that can actually write as fast as someone can talk. The positive thing about using this method is the fact that you can get different opinions on different airlines.
If you have plenty of money to spend, then you can book your flight through a travel agent. This is a good method in the sense that they take care of everything from taking your money to pay for the flight to booking it for the time that you would like to leave. The bad thing about this method is that travel agents charge extra because they have to make money off of doing all of the work for you.
The best method in finding a cheap flight is doing a little online research. The great thing with looking for a cheap flight online is that you can book through websites that offer discounts on booking your flight, hotel, and rental car (if you need them) all at the same time. These sites also let you compare prices on the same flight, departing and arriving at the same time, with different airlines. Some will definitely be cheaper and more affordable than others.
