Where’s your dream destination?
by Mary Catherine Allen

When you think about the word “tourist” it can mean visiting a destination for the first time or returning to the same place, because you love it. We all have a need to take vacation and experience new sights and sounds, foods and cultures. Vacation means that we can escape to an exotic location or enjoy the wonders of travel in our own backyard.

The world of tourism is a huge industry that encompasses all facets of travel from lodging, dining, air/boat/ground transportation; the list goes on and on. We base our travel desires on cultural, sporting and musical events and who can leave out shopping!

While some of us made decisions post-9/11 to stay close to home, the Office of Travel and Tourism Industries, predicts that the US will host 53 million international travelers this year. The fact is that the Internet has made us all become international travelers and it puts the world at our fingertips and only a click away.

There are vacations for every taste and budget. No matter where your dream destination takes you, always make certain that you work with a reputable travel agent. Think about travel insurance to help defray costs in the event you have to change your travel plans. If you are a do-it-yourselfer who prefers to handle your own travel arrangements, there are many online travel sites to help you research your trip.

Dreams do come true, so follow yours to your destination.
