Sex between cousins and distant relatives also differs in different culture and state. In the U.S., first cousin marriage or intimate relationships between cousins is forbidden in some states but in some areas, it is allowed.

Seven states in the U.S. allow marriage between cousins under special circumstances. In Utah, cousins who are under the age of sixty-five years old are allowed to marry each other.
